An arthroscopic discectomy is a procedure designed to decompress the spine in order to correct a herniated disc of the cervical or lumbar spine. It is less invasive than some other procedures, but has a steep learning curve for surgeons and is not as common as other discectomy or decompression procedures, such as a microdiscectomy.
